Hey babes, this week we’re chatting about your Bridal Trial, which is the practice run for your wedding day hair and makeup! We have already explained what this is and why you should have one (and you can read that here ;)), so this week we’re telling you exactly HOW you should prepare for your trial! Keep reading below for our tips on how to perfectly prepare for this appointment!
DO: Bring Inspo photos of both hair and makeup: This is important so your artist can see the overall look you are going for. Then they can ask questions about the details of each look, to really narrow down exactly what you want.
DO: Bring any hair accessories or other specific details you want included in the look: This can help you get the FULL idea of how your look will come together on wedding day. You may decide that certain details are “too much” or “not enough”. It is better to know sooner than later so you can make changes!
DO: THOROUGHLY shampoo and condition your hair the night before. Then thoroughly dry it before you go to bed. Leave it down or in a bonnet/silk scarf only. If you have curly hair and wish to keep your natural curls in tact, you should shampoo, condition, apply your everyday curl cream and thoroughly diffuse your hair dry before your appointment.
DO: Cleanse, exfoliate, and hydrate your skin! A flawless makeup application, starts with skin care babes. I can’t say it any louder! You should be following a basic skincare routine regularly, not just the day before your appointment. Need help determining what’s best for your skin? See a dermatologist or ask us! We’re only here to help!
Now that you know how you should arrive to your Bridal Trial let’s chat about some of the things you should NOT do before your appointment.
DON’T: Show up clueless as to what you want. We cannot make these decisions for you, babe! You need to at least have an idea of a direction you would like to go in and we can help tweak and make it perfect for you. Even if your torn between a couple ideas, that is better than absolutely no idea!
DON’T: Show up with overly saturated, oily hair/or hair that has been thrown in a bun for days. Dry shampoo can only help with a bit of oil. If your hair becomes severely oily/greasy, then you will need to shampoo and dry your hair RIGHT before your appointment, not the day before. Also, please do not throw your hair in a bun after you’ve followed all of the shampoo prep rules! This creates unnecessary texture and frizz in the hair, making our job harder to get you those perfect locks!
DON’T: Expect flawless makeup when you do not take care of your skin! I understand some clients have skin conditions or sensitivities that we as artists will need to work around. However, we can work with basic dry or oily skin, we just need your help! I can only do so much in one appointment, but the rest is up to you to continue working on your skin and daily skincare routine! It doesn’t have to be extensive, but a 3 step routine is crucial!
I hope these little DO’s and DON’T’s will help you prepare for your upcoming Bridal Trial, babe! Obviously, the BB babes are here to help, so if you have questions about any of these tips, ask us! Even if you aren’t our client, we are always here to offer our professional beauty advice! 😉
