Hello babes! I hope your week is off to an amazing start, or if you’re reading this mid-week, I hope it has been fabulous thus far! As a professional makeup artist, I always see the trends changing throughout the years, then circling back around to make a comeback years later. So this week on the blog, we’re talking about bridal makeup trends for 2021.

Given the fact that we are still on the tail end of a worldwide pandemic, things have been shaken up quite a bit. However, weddings are still happening and we’re here for it!  From single brides to brides with a bridal party we, as artists, are seeing the trends ebb and flow. The top three latest makeup trends for weddings are as follows: Natural makeup with a focus on skin; a pop on the eyes paired with a nude lip; or subtle eyeshadow with larger than life lashes and a bold lip. 

NATURAL MAKEUP, SKIN FOCUSED

During the lockdown portion of the pandemic, many people focused on their skincare routines. Beyond lockdown, the makeup wearing stayed minimal, since mask mandates were in effect. With everyone focusing on their skin and new routines, they want to show it off rather than cover it up! Many of the bride’s that are requesting this look, are wanting more natural, minimal wedding makeup. They don’t want to cover up that beautiful skin, and I love it! These bridal babes are wearing lightweight, water based foundations that keep the skin hydrated and glowing all day long! Top off the foundation with a bronzer and sheer blush and that’s a lewk, sis! 

NEUTRAL EYES & BOLD LIPS

With many mask mandates being lifted, people are excited to get back into the lipstick wearing game! For so long our lips were covered by masks, but now bride’s are opting for bright bold lipstick to show off that pout once again! Now there are some people who, when wearing a bold lipstick, can absolutely pull off a bold eye as well. However, usually my professional opinion would be to keep the eyes more neutral or minimal so that the lips pop more! To achieve this look simply sweep a gold or neutral tone across your eyelid and pair it with some penciled or natural winged eyeliner; throw on some amazing lashes; and let those lips POP! Some of the popular colors bride’s are asking for in the spring/summer are bright pink, fuschia, or bright coral/peach tones. Fall and winter clients prefer more red to deep berry tones. Whichever you choose, I am sure you’ll rock it! 

NUDE LIP, with an EYE POP

Bring back that ever so popular Kim K lip from 2010 because my nude lip gals are all about it! But don’t worry they aren’t going completely nude and boring- these babes are wanting a POP on the eyes with a hint of SPARKLE! I am currently receiving so many requests for a nude lip! Since we are keeping the lips neutral we want to bring attention to the eyes! So if you know you’ll be rocking the nude lip trend, opt for a smokey eye. (PSA: a smokey eye is not always done with black eye shadow, you can use brown tones, purple and grey tones or any other colors!) Top that smokey eye with some lashes and you’re ready to go!
