Hey hey my babes! I hope your week is amazing! Mine is starting out splendidly, since I just got back from Charleston, SC with my hubby. We celebrated our one year wedding anniversary, which is wild because it has not felt like a full year has passed since our wedding day! Yet here we are…but enough about me, let’s talk about you and how to get the most out of your beauty service appointments! I want every single client of mine to feel like a GOSH DANG QUEEN when they leave my chair, so I have put together some tips for you to ensure this feeling! Let’s talk about it.
BE ON TIME: If we must be on time while traveling to your appointment, then you must be on time and ready to get glammed when we arrive! Our arrival is NOT the time for you to jump in the shower, begin steaming your dress, etc. When we arrive onsite you will have about 10 minutes until we are set up and ready to go. Anything you can’t do within that timeframe will need to wait until after your appointment. We have other appointments after you babe, and if you take your time and aren’t ready to go, that can create a whole chain reaction of delayed appointments for the day! Being on time is ESPECIALLY important on a wedding day, as we are on a SUPER strict time schedule. For weddings, we do supply a timeline in advance, so make sure your bridal party has access to it! That way they know their designated time slot for glam, and can go to the bathroom, grab a drink, or do anything needed before hopping in our chair!
PREP YOUR SKIN OR HAIR: Babes, we cannot say this enough! We send out skin and hair prep instructions for EVERYONE, including both bridal and non-bridal appointments! Please be sure to read these, it is kind of important and will help ensure a flawless hair or makeup service that lasts throughout the day and into the night. We send these prep instructions at the time of signing a contract, at the time of your trial, and one week before your appointment. Please be kind to your skin and hair babes, and remember to exfoliate, cleanse, moisturize, and drink WATER! We promise it can only help!
KNOW YOUR SKIN OR HAIR: We get it, you’re not an expert in hair and makeup which is why you called us! However, you deal with your hair and skin on a daily basis and you have for the past 15+ years you’ve been alive babe! So you should understand what your hair and skin CAN and CANNOT do better than I can in the first 2 seconds I am meeting you. It is super helpful if you know your skin type, that way we can prep the skin and use specific products for areas of concern. It is also super helpful if you know if your hair holds a curl or not. That way, your artist can make suggestions ahead of time, or utilize certain prep techniques, instead of leaving it to chance!
SHARE INSPO PIX: When searching for inspo photos, first you should try to find photos of models that have similar features as you. This means they have the same skin tone, eye color, hair color, etc. This will help ensure the overall look translates to you. If you have blonde hair, blue eyes, and fair skin don’t look for makeup on a model with tanned skin with dark eyes and hair. Make mental notes about what you specifically like and dislike about each look!
ANSWER OUR QUESTIONS: In order to ensure we get the makeup and hair PERFECT! We are going to ask you a million questions, try to answer these as best you can! We typically start with asking how you wear your makeup regularly. This helps us to see your comfort level with makeup. If you tell me you wear chapstick and mascara only every day, then I know we are most likely going to opt for a more natural look so you look and FEEL like you! We’re also going to ask about your skin type and whether you are oily, dry, or normal. This will help us determine products we utilize for the look. Other questions we ask are mostly geared towards your inspo photos. We may notice one photo contains winged liner and the other doesn’t so we will ask if you prefer a winged liner vs a smudged liner. Bottom line is, know what you want and TELL US!!!!
SPEAK UP!: Babes, this is RULE NUMBER ONE and should really be at the top of this list. I understand, you watched us glam you for like an hour, and we had the best chat. Then you look at your makeup and you feel like something is missing, but you say it’s good and hop down from the chair. NO NO NO! PLEEEEEEASE, tell us when something does not meet your expectations. Maybe you just want that shadow a little more smoked out, or you want those curls a little looser, whatever it is, we would rather know that you want it fixed vs you just saying you like it then running off and crying in a corner (ok maybe that never happened…but STILL!). 10/10 I would rather you tell me right then and there, so I have a chance to make you happy! You will not hurt our feelings, I promise! If you do not tell me, I DO NOT KNOW!!!!
Ok babes, that’s it! 6 little tips to help you get the most out of your beauty appointments! You can expect to be thrilled with your final results when the lines of communication are open, you follow tips provided from your beauty pro, and you have realistic expectations!
