Hello, babes! It’s been a few weeks, with the website being under construction, but we’re back! This week we’re talking about bridal hairstyles and how to choose one that complements you and your style. Some brides know exactly what they want, and that is great, but we’re here to assist those of you who may be a little indecisive or even clueless as to what you want! There are three major questions the BB team will ask when trying to help you decide the hairstyle you will wear on your wedding day. We like to take into consideration the style of your overall desired look; the look and style of your wedding dress; and detailed questions about your hair. 

“What is the style of your overall desired look?” 

I usually begin with this question. Narrowing down a style is a great way to begin the process of finding your perfect wedding day hair!

Beauty Brigade’s suggestion: 

• Boho bridal babes: Loose curls, messy updos, and braids…lots of braids! 😉
• Classic bridal babes: Clean updos or updos with clean but textured lines, big romantic curls and volume!
• Vintage bridal babes: Vintage or time period inspired updos or glam waves…one of our FAVORITE LOOKS!

BOHO BABE:

This bridal babe was getting married in July, in Florida-talk about humidity! She also had fine thin, hair, so we opted for a messy, loose updo which incorporated tiny braids!

CLASSIC  BRIDAL BABE:

This bride knew her hair could hold a curl, and she wanted a classic look with her hair down! So we created big, romantic curls with some volume!

VINTAGE INSPIRED BRIDAL BABE:

This bride and the BB team chose to have her hair down with some loose vintage glam waves!

“What does your wedding dress look like?” 

Next I usually ask to see a photo of the dress. The neckline and overall shape of the dress can help to determine the best idea for a hairstyle, and whether to choose an updo, down style, or half up half down style.  

BB Suggestions: 

• Classic Ball Gown: Clean updo or Big romantic curls depending on face shape and neckline
• Open back: If you want to show it off-Updo or side swept half up half down style or If you want to cover it up-down or half up half down! 
• Deep V Neckline: Half up Half down or updo

OPEN BACK BRIDAL GOWN:

We simply couldn’t bring ourselves to cover this stunning dress’s back! So we opted for a textured updo! 

DETAILED BALL GOWN

This bridal beauty wore such a stunning dress and we didn’t want to cover the lace details! However, she knew she wanted a “down”  hairstyle, so we opted for a side swept updo! It gives the illusion of a down style to one side while the other side is pinned up! The perfect combination! 

CLASSIC A LINE BRIDAL GOWN WITH A DEEP V

This babe opted for a classic updo for the ceremony! Then we switched things up at the reception and let down the updo into a half up half down style!

“Does your hair hold curl well?”

Another question I usually ask my bridal clients is if their hair holds a curl well. This helps determine if they need to have us style an updo or not. 

BB Suggestions: 

If your hair does not hold a curl well, we usually suggest that you wear your hair up on the wedding day. However, it is merely a suggestion, and we would never force anyone into a style they don’t want! Another GREAT option for those who want to wear their hair down and are unsure of their curls lasting all night is to add extensions! Extensions are a great way to improve the length and thickness of your hair, as well as helping to prolong the life of your curls.  Although, I do suggest most bridal clients get extensions on their wedding day, so we can achieve those Pinterest worthy styles! But that’s a conversation for another day! 😉
