Lashes are all the rage right now! All the babes are wanting fuller, longer, thicker lashes and rightfully so! What if I told you, you could wake up every day and run out the door and with some beautifully curled lashes! Seriously, raise your hand if you’d like to skip the daily mascara layering process. I’ve seen and heard about some crazy mascara routines, and did you know some of these babes are spending anywhere from 5-10 minutes just on eyelash maintenance?! Sis, we need to free up some of your time! Don’t worry, this is the part where I spill the tea on lashes.

Some people prefer a more natural approach, while others love the dramatic lash effect. So first let’s chat about a more natural, or the most natural look, you could achieve with your very own lashes! For my ladies, and gents, who have naturally long lashes and just want them to look as though they’ve curled them and layered on some mascara, you NEED a lash lift! I don’t know how you’ve managed this long without one, honestly. Let’s walk through what a lash lift is, the process, and the results! 

What is a lash lift? 

A lash lift is essentially a perm of the eyelashes! Your trained eye lash technician, glues your natural lashes onto a silicone mold or rod. Then, they apply a 3 step solution to the base of your lashes, followed by a tinting solution. 

Lasting Results:

The end result should be natural lashes that are curled, lifted, and darkened. They should essentially look as though you curled them with a mascara curler and applied a coat of mascara, but without the effort! This look will last 6-8 weeks with proper maintenance and care! 

Things to know beforehand: 

• The entire process takes about an hour-hour and a half, so make sure you schedule your time accordingly
• You cannot get your lashes wet or wear mascara on them for 48 hours after your appointment! 
• Oil free mascara is the best to use, this helps ensure the life of your lift! 
• Sensitive skin or eyes? No problem, ask your technician to perform a patch test!

Now, where are my drama queens at?! If you don’t have naturally long lashes, or are just wanting something a little “extra” than a lash lift can provide, then lash extensions may be a better option for you! There are varying types of lash extensions and they are:  mink, silk, and synthetic. Mink and Silk are going to provide a more natural look, while synthetic lashes will be for those who want a BOLD look. Let’s take a peek at the process and results! 

What are lash extensions? 

Lash extensions are carefully applied one lash at a time, to the existing lash and not to the skin. They are applied with a specially formulated glue. Your artist will curate a customized look based on your lash consultation, applying varying lengths to obtain the desired look. A more voluminous look, may require your artist to apply more than one extension to each lash. The entire process can take anywhere from 1-2 hours. 

Lasting Results: 

Your lashes will be fully enhanced with extensions! They will appear longer, thicker, fuller, and darker! Skip that morning mascara routine, because you’re ready to run out the door looking bright eyed as ever! The lashes should last about a month before you need to refill them! 

Things to know before hand: 

Can become a pricey investment! Be prepared to spend roughly $100-300 on your first set and $50-$150 on regular refills 

Your lash extensions will individually fall out the longer you wear them, leaving gaps in your lashes. This is why it’s important to schedule regular fills every 2-4 weeks. 

You cannot get them wet for the first 48 hours, and just use an oil free mascara specially made for lash extensions (although you really shouldn’t need it)

You cannot rub your eyes when you have lash extensions, so for those of you who are constant eye rubbers (is that a thing?!) lash extensions may not be right for you!

Perform a patch test with the glue, prior to your appointment if you have sensitive skin or eyes to avoid possible irritation
