Hello my babes! The weather is heating up in Orlando, Florida, and we’re already seeing it spike into the high 80’s in April! Wut. 😑 Which basically means, it’s going to be a HOT and sweaty summer. I know many of you bridal babes decide to wait until Fall or Winter, when it’s slightly cooler, to get married. But this one is for my summer brides! Yes, you, the girly who is willing to brave the Florida heat and humidity! Not to worry though, we have your back! Let’s talk about hair style tips and tricks that are going to help that wedding hair last from the first look until the final exit, in 110 heat index! 

EXTENSIONS, EXTENSIONS, EXTENSIONS: I literally cannot say it any louder for the people in the back! Incorporating extensions into your hairstyle can not only help with adding length and volume to the hair, but they can also aid in longevity of the hairstyle. Yes, babe for those whose hair has a hard time holding a curl, extensions are the way to go!  

Ok so quick story time! I once had a bride, whose hair didn’t hold a curl very well at all, but she was adamant on having her hair down for her wedding day. However, she listened to my tip on getting extensions, and her hair lasted through several hours of wedding photos. Outside.👏 In Florida.👏 In August. 👏On a day with 112 heat index. 👏 WHAAAAAT! 👏👏

OPT FOR AN UPDO: As a 14 year event hairstylist, I can pull out every trick in the book, but some hair just will not hold a curl whatsoever, especially in the Florida heat. In this case I highly suggest you opt for an updo. You won’t have to worry about your hair falling flat, curls dropping, frizz frizzing, or any of that nonsense! With your hair up and securely fastened, you can probably head bang on that dance floor and still be mostly intact. (Watch out! A few bobby pins may go flying! 🤪🫣 )

HIRE A WEDDING HAIR PRO: It is all too often I hear brides “My regular hair stylist has never been able to get my curls to stay.” “My cousin does hair really well, so I may have her do it” ….etc, etc. Babe, I understand weddings are expensive, and cutting corners is sometimes necessary. However, hiring someone who is experienced in wedding and special event hair styling is worth the spend! Event hair artists, like the Beauty Brigade babes, understand all hair types and the type of prep needed to achieve certain looks; can create a timeline to ensure you are not rushed on wedding day; understand product knowledge and rely on salon products to achieve your desired look! That being said, peep some of my personal favorites below! 

HAIR PRODUCT MUST HAVES: There are some holy grail products I cannot live without! 

Smoothing Serum: To help smooth frizzy hair and add shine. Great for curly, wavy or dry hair.

Texture powder: Aids in creating volume and texture within the hair. Awesome for fine hair, and braids and twists! 

Wax Spray or Stick: Helps to smooth and hold frizz, baby hairs, etc.in place. Works great for frizzy, curly hair, or someone who has lots of fringe or “baby hairs”

Freeze Spray: The finishing touch to any style, this will have your hair GLUED in place, babe! Great for all hairstyles; but especially those who need some extra hold!
